Apple updated its famous MacBook Pro lineup, by launching the new 13-inch MacBook Pro model having a new Magic Keyboard instead of the earlier butterfly keyboard.
In addition to that this upgrade also brings performance and tech spec improvements. Apple also confirmed this through a press release.
13-inch MacBook Pro overview
Apple has retained the display size as a 13.3-inch LED-backlit IPS display. This is the same display as featured on the previous 13-inch model.
The display panel has a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and brings a 227ppi pixel density and 500 nits brightness.
There are two variants of this 13-inch model. The base model still uses the same 8th Gen Intel Core i5 CPU with a base clock speed of 1.4GHz and a boost speed of 3.9GHz. It comes with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a 256GB SSD. Previously the base model has 128GB storage. This model features two Thunderbolt 3 ports and now comes with Apple’s Touch Bar as standard.
The second one which is the premium variant has a quad-core 10th Intel Core i5 processor with a base clock speed of 2GHz and Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz. This model has 6MB shared L3 cache and 16GB of 3733MHz LPDDR4X RAM and a 512GB SSD. You can expand the storage up to 4TB as well. This premium model is priced starting at $1,799. This model features four Thunderbolt 3 ports and now comes with Apple’s Touch Bar.
After hearing five years of complaint Apple finally switched from butterfly keyboard to Magic Keyboard. The keyboard also features Touch ID button and the Touch Bar strip, in the place of traditional function keys. This is the same keyboard design as you would get in the 16-inches MacBook Pro.
The Magic Keyboard also features a physical Escape key, normal inverted-T shape arrow keys, and more key travel. The redesigned scissor mechanism provides 1mm of key travel for comfortable and stable key feel.
13-inch MacBook Pro pricing
The 13-inch MacBook Pro price in India for the base 256GB storage model starts at Rs. 1,22,990 and the 512GB storage option will be available at Rs. 1,42,990.
The premium model i.e 10th-generation Intel Core processor-powered models with 512GB internal storage and 16GB RAM starts at Rs. 1,74,900 and 1TB storage versions will be available with and Rs. 1,94,990.
In the US, the new MacBook Pro 256GB storage model will be available for purchase at $1,299 (roughly Rs. 98,300). For education customers, Apple will provide $100 (roughly Rs. 7,600) discount specifically in the US.
You can order the new MacBook Pro now, and the deliveries will start later this week. The new model will be available through Apple stores and Apple Authorised Resellers soon.
