Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched its latest budget smartphone Honor 9X Pro in India. This is the first smartphone in the country that uses Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) as a replacement for Google Mobile Services that is present in all Android smartphones nowadays.
The presence of HMS also means that this smartphone will have Huawei’s AppGallery instead of the Google Play Store. Thanks to Huawei for giving such an opportunity to live with a smartphone without Google services.
Honor 9X Pro overview
The Honor 9X Pro has a 6.59-inch full-HD+ IPS LCD display with 1,080×2,340 pixels resolutions. It has a 60Hz refresh rate, 92 percent screen-to-body ratio, and comes with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It comes with a pop-up selfie camera that provides a clean display.
Honor 9X houses a triple rear camera setup having 48 MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8 MP ultrawide camera with f/2.4 aperture (120-degree of Field-of-View (FoV)), and 2 MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The rear cameras are aligned in a vertical module.
For selfies, this phone has a motorized pop-up 16 MP primary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. In terms of videos, this smartphone can capture 1080p videos at 30fps from the rear camera and 1080p videos at 60fps from the selfie camera.
You would get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor in this phone. This smartphone measures 163.5 x 77.3 x 8.8 mm and weighs 202 grams.

Honor 9X Pro smartphone is powered by the octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM. There is also an advanced GPU Turbo 3.0 technology powered by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. It enhanced image processing and energy efficiency.
This smartphone runs on EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 (Pie). You won’t get Google Play Services with this phone. It comes with preloaded AppGallery that is an alternative to the Google Play Store. The AppGallery contains a huge number of apps, including many Indian apps such as Flipkart, Paytm, Grofers, MapMyIndia, and Zomato, among others. Until the ban removed over Huawei, you’ll have to manage with HMS and the AppGallery.
For connectivity, this includes include 4G LTE, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, A-GPS, infrared (IR) blaster, and more.
Honor 9X Pro is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery that also supports standard charging up to 10 W.

The Honor 9X Pro price for the single 6GB + 256GB storage variant is set at Rs. 17,999 in India. The phone comes with Phantom Black and Midnight Black color options.
Interested customers can buy this smartphone in Special Early Access Sale between May 21 and May 22. You need to register for that sale on Flipkart until May 19. The early sale also provides a special discount of Rs. 3,000 and no-cost EMI options for up to six months.
Launch offer also includes a one-time free screen replacement on accidental damage. This is valid for three months from the date of purchase. The return policy allows customers to return the smartphone within seven-day if anyone not satisfied with it.
