LG Folder 2 Flip Phone Launched With SOS Key and AI Voice Service

LG has launched the successor of the LG Folder model aptly called the Folder 2. The Korean company surprised the tech geeks by announcing a new flip phone, with Android support.

You would get a dual-screen flip smartphone having the main display inside and a small narrow display on the outside. It also equipped with a T9 keypad used for inputs.

Overview

LG Folder 2 flip phone has a 2.8-inch QVGA screen inside when flipping it to open. There is a 0.9-inch monochrome panel on the outside of the fold that can be used for notifications. It shows various notifications like calls, text messages, signal strength, time and battery life.

There is a 2-megapixel rear camera on the backside of the folding section next to the SOS Key.

The main highlight of this LG Folder 2 is the SOS Key and AI Voice Service. The SOS key is present on the backside of the fold that allows users to call a pre-registered number. A user has to press the key three times quickly within 1.5 seconds. This also sends the location information through a text message automatically.

The hotkey is placed on the above the call button for AI Voice service. The AI Voice service or recording function can be performed depending on the network carrier. The AI Voice service recognizes and gives replies to various questions.

The Folder 2 flip phone is powered by the Snapdragon 210 SoC. It has 8GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. The storage capacity can be expanded up to 32GB via MicroSD card slot.

The LG Folder 2 weighs 127 grams only. This supports Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Wi-Fi, and 4G connectivity. There is a data security lock function that prevents unintentional data charges.

The phone is backed by a 1,470 mAh battery. Two-color options are available for this phone like White and New Platinum Grey.

By seeing the design and overall specifications it is clear that LG Folder 2 Flip Phone is targeted to senior citizens and other consumers who want to use simpler phones.

The LG Folder 2 costs KRW 198,000 ($160/€150 roughly Rs. 12,400). This phone will go on sale from April 17 in South Korea. There is no word on global release and availability.
